FDA Warning!

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning the public about a counterfeit version of the Alli weight loss drug 60 mg capsules (120 count refill pack) being sold over the Internet, particularly at online auction sites.

The counterfeit diet pill product is illegal and unsafe. FDA advises people who believe that they have a counterfeit product not to use the drug and to dispose of it immediately. There is no evidence at this time that the counterfeit Alli diet pill product has been sold in retail stores.

Photo of authentic Alli

According to the FDA, the counterfeit Alli looks similar to the authentic product, with a few notable differences. The counterfeit Alli diet pill has:
* a missing LOT code on the outer cardboard packaging
* an expiration date that includes a month, day and year (real Alli only has month and year)

Photos of Bottles

* plain foil for the inner safety seal without words on it (real Alli has the words “SEALED FOR YOUR PROTECTION” printed on it)
* large capsules with white powder, as opposed to small white pellets found in real Alli
* a slightly taller plastic bottle with a wider cap and coarser ribbing on cap than is seen in real Alli diet pills.

For more information on this counterfeit drug, please visit the excellent women’s health site at Northwestern University, http://blog.womenshealth.northwestern.edu/2010/01/counterfeit-weight-loss-drug-sold-on-line. We thank the staff at Northwestern for this alert.

What is Alli?

Alli is a lower strength version of orlistat (Xenical). Xenical is a prescription drug that has been developed to treat obesity. Alli has been approved, at this lower strength, for regular over-the-counter sale to people that are 18 or older and overweight. Alli is designed to be a component of a low-calorie- low-fat diet, along with exercise.

Alli may be of help in losing weight, but the impact won’t be that great and maybe just a few pounds more than diet and exercise alone would have accomplished, according to Dr.Hensrud, MD of Mayo Clinic. Just a limited number of studies looked at the effectiveness of Alli. And most of the weight loss estimates that sometimes are attributed to Alli, may have been based on studies that were conducted on its prescription-strength version, Xenical.

I’m surprised you’re still with me. The moment the word obesity is mentioned, people tend to quickly switch to another subject. Overweight people don’t even want to think that they could be nearing obesity. They refuse to believe that they could be close to the line where being overweight crosses over to obesity.

Typical response from people 35 to 75 pounds over their ideal weight.

“Who me? Yeah, I’m carrying a few extra pounds , but I’m just stocky (men) or full figured (women). I know I should lose some weight and I’m going to start my diet next week”.

If I had a nickle for every time I said or heard this one, I’d be very wealthy. Here’s my message for overweight people: The difference between being overweight and being obese is TIME. You’ll get there if you keep trying! I can help you, if you want me to…but you’ve got to want to make that lifestyle change. You’ve come to a good resource for many different types of weight loss programs, one of which is probably just right for you.

Meanwhile, obese people are most often very sensitive and don’t want to admit that their weight is a problem. They are often very hard to persuade that they are going to permanently damage or kill themselves, if they keep on the same path.

Often, academics like to point out studies that are full of facts and statistics.

Their role seems to be more on the documentation end of things. Most of the time, statistics don’t get action. Everyone thinks those stats are just numbers, and they don’t see the devastation that is behind the numbers. Meanwhile, weight loss counselors try and help to put overweight and obese people on the right path to recovery. There are hundreds of good diet plans that combine weight loss and exercise. They work, too, for a while.

So why does obesity keep growing in severity?

Statistics tell us the that, around the world, there are more than 1 billion overweight people, age 18+, and at least 300 million of these are obese. I believe that most overweight people want to change, but they either relapse or never get started. Maybe it’s going to take more than a little will power. Maybe it’s time for an obesity intervention.

Interventions are hard, but necessary!

No one wants to be the ringleader of a group of people who face a friend or loved one with facts.

Intervention is a process you need some professional help with. If you finally come up with the courage to organize an intervention, get some help with a plan before you get started. When you sign on for this, be prepared to stay in it for the long haul.

If you are fortunate enough to intervene before permanent damage or death occurs, you will ultimately feel like you helped give someone back their life.

Obesity is not an easy subject to get out in the open.

It’s so personal that most people don’t even want to discuss it, let alone do something about it. If you or your loved ones have overweight or obesity issues, I hope what you read below will convince you that living in denial has got to stop. Someone has to start the ball rolling by saying “I want to lose weight”. As the old saying goes, “The journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step”. If that step is not taken, a lot more than ego or vanity is at stake.

Obesity affects the brain.

A unusual amount of attention has been focused on obesity lately, as reports stack up that indicate the US population is gaining weight at an unprecedented level. The most current research indicates that obesity has a crucial effect on the brain. Very overweight and obese people had a great deal less brain matter than those people whose weight were considered normal. This is not just fiction being used as a scare tactic to get more folks to say “I want to lose weight.” It’s from a conclusive study, collaborated on by researchers at UCLA and The University of Pittsburgh. The title of the study was “Brain Structure and Obesity” and has been recently published on line in a journal called Human Brain Mapping. The lead scientist on the project was quoted in US News and World Report as saying “The brains of obese people looked 16 years older than their healthy counterparts while those of overweight people looked 8 years older.”

Brain loss in overweight people gets worse with age.

Now we need to make sure and qualify that article for you. The average age of the study subjects was 77 years old. At first glance, it may seem that these results would only apply to older populations. However, other data indicates that brain cells deteriorate in not only the elderly, but in men and women of all ages. Childhood obesity statistics indicate that the trend toward obesity is life long. By the time people are in their 70′s, its’ much more pronounced, but this brain loss seems to be a finding that gets worse over time, as we age. At this point, the studies indicate that the genders were fairly represented in their tests. The authors didn’t seem to notice any big differences between male and female subjects. One of the things noted in the study was that further research between males and females is important to pay attention to in the future. Are you ready yet to at least consider the thought… “I want to lose weight”?

Twice as many deaths.

Obesity is certainly a hot button issue with both men and women. However, a 2006 study indicates that it may be more of a painful quality of life issue in women more than men. Many studies or surveys on health and quality of life conclude that health-related drop-offs in the quality of life scores were about 4 times higher for overweight women than overweight men, and more than two times higher for obese women than obese men. Additionally shocking was the fact that the authors found that there were about two times as many deaths among overweight and obese women than as for men. These mortality rates were in comparison to men and women considered to be of normal weights or slightly overweight. These studies are not considered to be conclusive evidence, but they do have the attention of the scientific community. If you’re not ready to shout “I want to lose weight”, ask yourself if you are living in the real world.

It’s time to take action!

The conclusions should make it clear that very overweight and obese persons have a lot more heartache, troubles and sometimes death than people of normal weights. If obesity has affected you or your loved ones, it’s time to take action. These problems won’t go away and you may be the only one that can make someone say “I want to lose weight”. I’ve used that phrase in quotes all through this article, because the mental step of admitting this is the most important part of a lifestyle change!

Easy Weight Loss for Men

It took me 60 years to figure out that life is not a race to the finish line. I’ve always been after the elusive goal of accomplishment, often at the expense of my health and the people I love. These are not the “I wish I had done things differently” musings of age. They are the simple truths that accompany change.

Changes that can happen when you let go.

This is not a platform to bare my soul and confess my sins of youth. It’s a very neat opportunity to post about changes that can happen when you let go of ingrained habits. It’s about weight loss for men and allowing yourself a chance to be the person you’d like to be. It’s on dealing with issues we men have. It’s from the heart, and I hope you can relate to it.

Criticism of my body shape.

I’ve always had a problem with my weight and I think that was a contributing factor to the way I acted. I think I wanted to deflect any criticism of my body shape by overachieving in other areas. I was obsessed by being “a winner“! It didn’t matter if it was Trivial Pursuit or business success, I was going to win at all costs. Each year, I’d start a new physical regime of weight loss for men that would make me “good looking“. I think I realized that I didn’t like my lifestyle much. Weight loss would be the magic bullet that would allow me to let go and change in other areas of my life. I really couldn’t put my finger on what those changes might be, but feeling better about my weight might be the catalyst for change.

I deserved a break.

Well, until a few years ago, I couldn’t get there. I tried every diet my wife could come up with and was miserable. I ran every day until I blew the cartilage in my ankle. I’d drop 20-25 pounds and celebrate by starting to sneak a few cookies every day and a bowl of ice cream once in a while. After all, I made my goal and deserved a little break from the routine. GOTCHA! After a while, I was right back to where I was and more unhappy with myself than ever. I worked harder at being an achiever, so that I could be proud of something…because I sure wasn’t proud of backsliding on my weight.

I love feeling fit.

A few years ago, I had some health problems that forced me to re-think my lifestyle. I knew I had to reinvent myself or slowly slip into a place where I couldn’t return. I love my wife of 41 years, my kids, grandkids, dog and family. I love being able to do active things. I love feeling fit and finding joy in each day. What do these things have in common with weight loss for men? I also love food!

Men have egos.

Just how in the heck was I going to take all these elements and reinvent myself? The first thing I did was study some human behavior issues to see why I was always battling myself. That was the greatest thing I’ve ever done for myself. From there, I started to slowly research health, weight loss for men and male self esteem. I don’t know whether it’s easier for a woman to admit she has issues and do something positive about it. I do know that weight loss for men is very tricky to deal with. Most of us men have egos that don’t allow us to admit we’re not as strong as we act. I think we males need to be allowed the space to investigate the right way to lose weight and keep it off. “It must have been the formula we’re using, because it sure couldn’t be a lack of control.”

Pass the Thousand Island, please.

I have been reinventing myself for a few years and it feels good. I don’t have to give up things I like. I don’t have to listen to little jabs from anyone about whether I should be putting thousand island dressing on my salad. I have changed and I like it. I can still use thousand island, too! I’ve put together a website. It’s not just weight loss for men. It’s about attitude and ways to help you find a program that works for you. You may just need a quick weight loss tuneup, or a critical long term health program.

I feel great about myself, my love life has improved and my joy with all the little things in life has returned. I hope this happens to you.

Change your life, as I’ve changed mine!

Need to lose weight ? The old joke used to be “Diet of the Month” club. Now it seems to be the “Diet of the DAY”! So many people that need to lose weight, have a burning desire to go for a fast weight loss diet. This causes an abrupt change to their system. Their body says: “Wait a minute, boss…what the heck is going on here”? These abrupt changes cause difficult periods of adjustment. These fast body changes are just inconsistent with healthy weight loss systems. You didn’t get too heavy overnight and you shouldn’t try to get those pounds off the same way. A diet plan should be simple and easy. You just need to determine what your goals are and why you need to lose weight in the first place. Keep going the way you are and this picture could be you!

Change Your Attitude!

I firmly believe that first thing to do is change your attitude about food. “Do you live to eat…or eat to live?” That old line has been around forever, but it’s the core principle of healthy weight loss systems. Do you perceive eating food as sustenance for your body, or is it about relieving stress, anxiety, depression or other emotional challenges? If you overeat, ask yourself why? What is it about gorging on six pieces of pizza? It’s not that you’re out of control. You’re just feeling starved! Most often, that feeling comes from not eating on a regular basis. When you’re feeling that way, your body believes you need LOT’S to eat. Tip: Snacking several times a day, keeps the starvation monster away.

The Best Weight Loss Program Ever!

I have some proven, step by step programs for people who need to lose weight. Here is the best. It’s called Strip That Fat and it works. I know because I use it to maintain my weight.

Here are some tips for people that need to lose weight:

Eat smaller portions, more often, each day. I suggest a decent breakfast, snack at mid morning, small lunch, snack at mid afternoon, reasonable dinner and nothing to eat after 7 pm.

Don’t use food to escape! (Candy’s Dandy But Liquor’s Quicker … and It Doesn’t Rot Your Teeth). I can’t believe I dredged that one up. However the principle is the same. Escapism isn’t doing your body any good!

Exercise every day. It’s hard to get on a routine and stay with it, but it is the best thing you can do when you need to lose weight. I get up 30 minutes before I need to every day and take a speed walk around the neighborhood. You don’t have to be a gym rat on long distance runner to exercise. Walking is great and doesn’t cost a dime!

Don’t even start if you’re not serious.

Don’t even start healthy weight loss systems if you aren’t serious. Toss out every mirror in the house, the scales and all those clothes that don’t quite fit anymore. You know you need to lose weight, but the up and down weight loss Yo-Yo is too hard on your body and even harder on your psyche. You’ll feel like a failure, and who needs that burden on top of everything else going on in your life!

This will change your life.

If you are serious about your need to lose weight, this time, you owe it to yourself to visit Strip That Fat (click here) and learn the proven principles that will put you ahead of the other 750 million overweight people on the planet!

Your neighbor lost 35 pounds in 6 weeks! Can that be dangerous? There are as many answers to that question, as there are weight loss system gurus. Depending on how much weight you need to lose and how your overall body condition is, the answer may be a solid YES. Healthy weight loss systems are absolutely critical to your long term success. You can’t compromise your health when you attempt to take off those unwanted pounds. When it’s all said and done, you’re the person responsible for your own body.

STOP! Enough with the craziness!

Your short and long term weight management depends on several things. You need to eat healthy, exercise and make a plan every day, for weight loss systems to work. This is not rocket science. Why do you need to lose weight? Because you don’t eat right, on a regular schedule and you don’t stay with THE PLAN. It’s that simple. You may get upset with me for being too straightforward, but you know in your heart that it’s true.

Over the last few years, diet detox has come out of the closet. Detox has long been a “dirty word” that is most often associated with trying to kick drug or alcohol use. That stigma has prompted most people to shy away from the body cleansing aspect of detoxification for weight loss. For many years, most holistic medicine practitioners have been recommending some sort of internal cleansing, but hestitate to call it detox. Now, it’s common practice for many weight loss plans to call for a diet detox.

Too many toxins cause internal congestion.

Detoxification means removing and flushing away of harmful impurities, chemicals and toxins from the body. It’s a simple process and when our bodies get too congested by the presence of too many toxins, external help through a process called detox is needed to get the body back to health. This external cleansing process takes many forms including change in your dietary habits, medicines, fasting, herbal supplements, external aids, exercise, sauna, steam and drinking lots of water to carry off the toxins through elimination.

Weight loss takes longer without a detox diet.

A highly recommended program is The Master Cleanser (click here). Most trusted weight loss plans call for a detox diet. They may not use those exact words, but they do include the components in their plan. Without this diet detox, your weight loss usually takes longer and the results are not as satisfactory.

There are many natural ways to detox.

The body has several ways to flush out toxins. When you follow a cleansing routine, sweat and waste elimination are the main resources your body has to get rid of harmful toxins. Physical exercise, sauna and steam baths are the main sources of sweat. A detox diet also uses foods and juices that are easily digestible, and encourage elimination. I prefer a natural diet detox, as opposed to laxatives and diuretics, for healthy weight loss.

Don’t let your body become a toxin magnet!

To learn more about diet detox and it’s health benefits, visit a source like The Master Cleanser. They’ve compiled a comprehensive program of healthy information that aids digestion and keeps your body from being a toxin magnet!

Need to lose weight quick? Sometimes, it’s urgent that you lose weight quickly for a special occasion like a wedding, class reunion, job interview or first date. I do have some good suggestions to lose weight quick and shed 10, 15 or even 20 pounds , but I’d sure like to see you consider following up with a long term weight management program. In your heart, you know it’s not a good idea to lose weight quickly, if it’s just going to reappear. I’ll share my advice, if we can work a deal. You start losing weight fast, and then make yourself a commitment to keep it off. Keep in mind that super fast weight loss is never easy on your body. My suggestions are home grown, though, so if you’d feel more comfortable with a proven professional plan, follow this link to Warp Speed Fat Loss.

Here are my home spun steps to lose weight quickly:

First, you need a day or two of detox to cleanse your system and set it up for losing weight fast. Mix the following ingredients into a 12 ounce glass of water: A teaspoon of lemon juice, a pinch of ginger and and a tablespoon of honey. On this day, you’re fasting, so mix it up good and drink it every time you get hungry. In between your cleansing mixture, drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. You will need to go to the bathroom quite a bit, over the next 24-48 hours. It’s working, though, to cleanse your body. If you can only do one day, that’s fine. However, if you can make it two days on this routine, the weight will come off faster, as your body sets up make the necessary changes to lose weight quickly.

Breakfast is the most important meal you’ll eat all day.

You need some breakfast to set the tone and to carry you through the day. A small plate of scrambled eggs, a piece of wheat toast and a glass of skim milk is a good start. Vary this with a small bowl of non-sugary cereal, topped with raspberries and use skim milk. I like Cheerios because they only have 1 gram of sugar per serving. Stay away from the bananas. I love them, but they are very high in sugar and starch. Remember, the idea is losing weight fast!

You get snacks on this diet!

Pick a good snack time, like mid-morning and have an apple or a few carrot sticks. This will keep you from feeling starved before lunch. The same goes for mid-afternoon. An apple, orange or some veggie sticks like celery or carrots is great. If you like, pick up some low fat yogurt for that snack to give yourself some variety. I like vanilla. I add in a spoonful of no sugar raspberry or strawberry jam. I think it tastes better than the fruit flavored yogurt.

Eat small lunches and dinners.

For lunch and evening meals, limit your portions of food and go for plenty of vegetables, lean meat, fish, eggs, and some fruits like apples and oranges. Use a small plate, rather than a regular dinner plate. Half of your plate should be veggies and a small amount of carbohydrate like potato or bread. Carbs get a bad rap with some weight loss diets, but you need them for losing weight fast, and keep from binging later. About a quarter of your plate should be protein like chicken, pork or other white meats. Fish is great and some lean red meat is okay every third day. The key to these meals is small portions. Also, don’t bolt your food. Chew each bite 15 times before you swallow and wait until you’ve swallowed before putting more in your mouth. I would also suggest working a can of black beans into your weight loss diet, if you can. They are a terrific source of fiber.

Water…water…water!

Continue to drink a lot of water. You should sip on it all day and try to get in at least 10 glasses a day. No soft drinks and cut the caffeine way back. If you stay on this program for several weeks without so much as a single bump in the road, you will lose weight quickly. I don’t suggest you stay on this diet more than three weeks. After your initial weight loss, find a diet program you can live with long term, like Strip That Fat. This is an amazing program and is rapidly becoming one of the most popular long term diets. I didn’t mention exercise for a reason. I’m suggesting you wait until you stop losing weight fast… and then start exercising later. When you’re trying to drop weight quickly, you’re putting your body through enough stress. When you’ve lost the weight, then start walking, jogging, going to the gym…it all helps to keep the weight off and re-energize your body. You may gain a few pounds of muscle when you start, but be patient. It will result in a healthier body and you’ll start to lose steadily after your muscles get in tune with your body. That’s my formula to lose weight quickly!

These are very broad suggestions, without much structure. Again, if you’d rather go with a proven professional program that takes you step-by-step through the entire process, click on this link: Warp Speed Fat Loss.

Good luck on your quest to lose weight QUICK!

Your wonderful wedding day is coming fast…maybe a little too fast! Are you feeling some panic about fitting into your dream wedding gown? Relax, we have an approach to weight loss for the bride that will help you become a vision of loveliness. Follow this simple, yet proven approach for about 4-6 weeks before your wedding day and you’ll probably drop at least one dress size.

Stress and anxiety as your wedding day approaches can be overwhelming. With all the preparation involved and the countless number of details to attend to, it’s hard to eat sensibly and maintain some level of good nutrition. Many brides get so stressed out over the months leading up to their wedding, that they abandon good eating habits and alternate between starving themselves and binging on junk food to handle the stress. Here’s a web site that I believe can help you gain control over the big day: Strip That Fat.

Many brides are genuinely terrified that they’ll be overweight and unattractive on their wedding day, or even worse, won’t fit into their beautiful and expensive wedding gown. A few simple changes to your daily routine can really make a huge difference. The four basic weight loss tips for the bride, below, really work. You need to start this program at least 3-4 weeks before your wedding day and I advise you to stay with it after the wedding. It will keep you trim and beautiful for an “endless honeymoon“.

1) Drink lots of water. I mean LOTS of water, every day. Carry a big drinking mug of water close to you all day. If you preference is bottled water, make it the 32 oz. size. Try to get in at least 6 or 7 of these oversize mugs of water every day, in addition to your normal intake of fluids. Cut way down on the coffee and soda, as they contribute to fluid retention. Water lowers body fat, flushes cellulite, improves digestion, keeps your kidneys in good order and makes you feel full. Good daily hydration is critical, but it’s one of the hardest things to make a routine habit.

2) Walk every day. Start with 10 minutes the first few days and work up to about 20-30 minutes a day. Speed walk, if you can. You need boost your metabolism and keep active to lose weight. If you find the time, try a little aerobic workout as you progress. It gets the heart working and helps relieve stress.

3) Eat small portions of food 6 times a day. Most crash dieters make the mistake of cutting way back on their portions, then only eat a few times a day. After a few days, they feel starved and fall off the wagon. By eating small portions, six times a day, you don’t get that desperately hungry feeling of a typical weight loss diet. Try eating at 7 am, 10 am, 1 pm, 4 pm, 7 pm and 10 pm. Your portions should be small, but nutritionally balanced. Protein like chicken, pork, meat or eggs, some carbs, fruit and veggies. You’re just not going to make it on grapefruit and salads for 30 days. Your meal portions (meat, veggies, carbs) should be no larger and no thicker than the palm of your hand. Weight loss tips for the bride are pretty basic, but you can live with them, as opposed to some of the crazy diets you’ve heard about.

4) Reward yourself once a week. Have something delicious that you’ve been craving. A small dish of ice cream, a piece of chocolate fudge, your favorite cookie or a little portion of lasagna. It doesn’t matter what it is, as long as you don’t over do it. Make sure you don’t binge and clean out the whole container of ice cream. This little reward is a real psychological boost. It says: “I’m proud of myself and I have the willpower to limit it to once a week and make my weight loss tips for the bride really work.”

I hope these weight loss tips for the bride help you become the vision of beauty you want to be.

I have several physical disabilities. I used to use this as an excuse for not being able to lose weight. Exercise and dieting go together, but I just couldn’t handle the pain of physical activities. I was always trying to find the right combination of physical activity and diet that I could live with and not make my constant pain any worse. I finally found the right weight loss program, which just left me to deal with the physical part. My disabilities were not absolute limitations, like those of a quadriplegic. I was a runner for 15 years and my ankle is shot. The cartilage is almost gone and it’s bone grinding on bone. The muscles and ligaments are stretched out and I have to wear a rigid orthopedic brace, from my knee down to my toes. I was also rear ended by a motor home several years ago, and my upper back has permanent nerve damage and arthritis. Pain is a part of my daily life. Any type of workout routine just increases the discomfort.

Constraints on physical activity and healthy diets.

People with disabilities have issues that make physical activity a real challenge, compared to those without disabilities. Also, their lack of mobility leads to eating routines that don’t lend themselves to weight loss and physical disabilities. For example, preparing food can be a problem, depending on the severity of the disability. many times, it’s just easier to eat fast food, takeout or TV dinners. Most of the time, these types of food are not nutritionally healthy. The exception is frozen weight loss dinners. However, these meals are quite expensive and many of those trying to juggle weight loss and physical disabilities have limited means to earn a suitable income. Other barriers include increasing physical activity. Unless they have access to a gym or workout facility, it’s hard to come up with a suitable fitness routine. Many disabled just don’t understand how to overcome limitations or they haven’t got access to transportation to go to affordable fitness centers and trainers. Their lack of knowledge about the skills necessary to exercise without harming themselves and their worry about fatigue and increased pain contribute to their inability to get started on a physical fitness routine.

Most weight loss programs are for the non-disabled.

While weight guidelines have been developed for the non-disabled, very few suggestions exist for weight loss and physical disabilities. The normal recommendations for weight loss include reduced-calorie diets, increased physical activity, and counseling or weight management programs. However, these suggestions are rarely tailored for disabled people, to take into account reduced metabolism, difficulty in obtaining good information for diet and exercise, physical limitations to engage in aerobic or repetitive activity, limited access to fitness facilities that can accommodate people with mobility issues, and some of the social stigma that may accompany physical challenged people.

BMI measurements may be flawed.

Body Mass Index, or BMI, a calculation which requires accurate weight and height measurements, is one of the most widely used measures to determine whether or not an individual is overweight. However, with the disabled, this measure fails to consider factors such as loss of muscle tone from inactivity, loss of an arm or leg, or difficulties in obtaining height measurements for people who have involuntary athetoid movement, scoliosis or difficulty in stretching their legs out to full length. These characteristics make it more difficult for trainers, physicians, and other health care professionals to properly identify and help with weight loss and physical disabilities.

With the disabled, stress and depression may be triggers.

Many people with disabilities, who are overweight, develop a dislike for their image. In this regard, they’re no different than those without disabilities. Research by many noted experts indicates that excessive weight is associated with low self-esteem, which may be caused by a society that places a premium on beautiful bodies. Social stigmas, self-blame, discrimination and cultural ideals all lead to feelings of inadequacy. Stress and depression usually serve as triggers for overeating and weight loss relapse. As you can probably guess by now, this is highly amplified in cases of weight loss and physical disability

Learn about weight loss programs that work!

After my initial research, I was encouraged and disappointed at the same time. There are some resources out there, but they are limited. I finally made an assessment of what I could do for activities that would work for most of my physical limitations. I found some excellent sources for lifelong weight loss and coupled them with my physical activities. It took me some time, but I stayed with the program and have kept off the 35 pounds that I lost! The first step in managing your weight is learning about key concepts, such as calories, carbohydrates, body mass index, how to diet the proper way and weight loss programs that help you document your eating habits and measure your progress. Instead of being able to use the elliptical machines and walking or running, I have a routine that includes light hand weights and lots of repetitions. This can really get your heart pumping for aerobic activity. I try to use isometric exercise in place of weight lifting. I do as much stretching as I can tolerate to maintain flexibility.

You need to do your homework!

Everyone has different physical issues, and there is no one size fits all approach to weight loss and physical disabilities. I do urge you to get started on a program that works for you and stay with it. Don’t cop out like I did for years, and use your physical limitations as an excuse not to lose weight. You may not be able to handle the exercise component, but at least get the proper diet part going now. I found a great weight loss program and it works for me. It’s called Strip That Fat. You may not choose this program and that’s okay. Just promise yourself to get started on something that will work for you! Your mental attitude will improve and you’ll find joy in life.
