Need to lose weight quick?  Sometimes, it’s urgent that you lose weight quickly for a special occasion like a wedding, class reunion, job interview or first date.  I do have some good suggestions to lose weight quick and  shed 10, 15 or even 20 pounds , but I’d sure like to see you consider following up with a long term weight management program. In your heart, you know it’s not a good idea to lose weight  quickly, if it’s just going to reappear. I’ll share my advice, if we can work a deal. You start losing weight fast, and then make yourself a commitment to keep it off. Keep in mind that super fast weight loss is never easy on your body. Here are my home spun steps to lose weight quickly:

First, you need a day or two of detox to cleanse your system and set it up for losing weight  fast. Mix the following ingredients into a 12 ounce glass of water: A teaspoon of lemon juice, a pinch of ginger and and a tablespoon of honey.  On this day, you’re fasting, so mix it up good and drink it every time you get hungry. In between your cleansing mixture, drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. You will need to go to the bathroom quite a bit, over the next 24-48 hours. It’s working, though, to cleanse your body. If you can only do one day, that’s fine. However, if you can make it two days on this routine, the weight will come off faster, as your body sets up make the necessary changes to lose weight quickly.

Breakfast is the most important meal you’ll eat all day.

You need some breakfast to set the tone and to carry you through the day. A small plate of scrambled eggs, a piece of wheat toast and a glass of skim milk is a good start. Vary this with a small bowl of non-sugary cereal, topped with raspberries and use skim milk. I like Cheerios because they only have 1 gram of sugar per serving. Stay away from the bananas.  I love them, but they are very high in sugar and starch. Remember, the idea is losing weight fast!

You get snacks on this diet!

Pick a good snack time, like mid-morning and have an apple or a few carrot sticks. This will keep you from feeling starved before lunch. The same goes for mid-afternoon. An apple, orange or some veggie sticks like celery or carrots is great. If you like, pick up some low fat yogurt for that snack to give yourself some variety.  I like vanilla. I add in a spoonful of no sugar raspberry or strawberry jam.  I think it tastes better than the fruit flavored yogurt.

Eat small lunches and dinners.

For lunch and evening meals, limit your portions of food and go for plenty of vegetables, lean meat, fish, eggs, and some fruits like apples and oranges. Use a small plate, rather than a regular dinner plate. Half of your plate should be veggies and a small amount of carbohydrate like potato or bread.  Carbs get a bad rap with some weight loss diets, but you need them for losing weight fast, and keep from binging later. About a quarter of your plate should be protein like chicken, pork or other white meats. Fish is great and some lean red meat is okay every third day.  The key to these meals is small portions.  Also, don’t bolt your food. Chew each bite 15 times before you swallow and wait until you’ve swallowed before putting more in your mouth. I would also suggest working a can of black beans into your weight loss diet, if you can. They are a terrific source of fiber.

Water…water…water!

Continue to drink a lot of water. You should sip on it all day and try to get in at least 10 glasses a day. No soft drinks and cut the caffeine way back. If you stay on this program for several weeks without so much as a single bump in the road, you will lose weight quickly. I don’t suggest you stay on this diet more than three weeks.  After your initial weight loss, find a diet program you can live with long term, like Strip That Fat. When you’re trying to drop weight quickly, you’re putting your body through enough stress. When you’ve lost the weight, then start walking, jogging, going to the gym…it all helps to keep the weight off and re-energize your body.  You may gain a few pounds of muscle when you start, but be patient. It will result in a healthier body and you’ll start to lose steadily after your muscles get in tune with your body.  That’s my formula to lose weight quickly!
